It records to an optional HDD or SSD in using Apple's ProRes or Avid's DNxHD edit-ready codecs. The Ninja 2 supports 10-bit 4:2:2 colour sampling for vivid images superior to most DSLR internal recording capabilities, and you can still record 8-bit video to the Ninja 2.
