The Tama PMM146 Starphonic Snare is a 14" x 6" snare drum, with a satin mappa burl finish, with Evans drum heads, and a detachable butt. A solid sound that features full projection with rich resonant tone , combined with fine, crisp snare response. In order to achieve this sound, Tama have developed Starphonic, a concept that incorporates entirely new hoop, lug, and strainer designs, married to a variety of uniquely constructed drum shells. Most important are the "Freedom Lug & Claw Hook" designs: By loosening the tension rods, you can tilt the claw hooks backwards and away from the Grooved Hoop. This quick release system offers simple, speedy replacement of drum heads without having to take all the tension rods out of the lugs. The detachable strainer butt allows you to change your snare side head as fast as the batter head, while keeping the snare wire tension in its original state.
