The newly released module is the successor to the Cursus Iteritas and is based on the ALIA platform. CIA generates its sounds based on the three wavetable shapes Daubechies, Fourier and Walsh. With the parameters Pitch, Center, Structure, Edge, Fold, Width and Tilt, the extremely complex and versatile wave spectrum is traversed. The module cannot and will not disguise its digital origins; it is reminiscent of PPG and Waldorf wavetable sounds in the best sense, but also Casio's Phase Distortion synthesis. The spectrum ranges from atonal rattling to melodic and radiantly clear. So much is possible, but above all the CIA is a very dynamic oscillator that comes to life incredibly through modulation. Of course, all parameters, including the toggle switches, have CV inputs. In addition to the original CI, there is a Hold button which, when pressed, ignores the incoming CV voltages and outputs the currently set sound. The module has also been supplemented with a sub-oscillator whose frequency is exactly one octave below that of the main Out . Exchangeable firmware Alia is an oscillator platform which, like Versio and Legio, allows the software to be exchanged. You can access the Alia page via the Noise Engineering homepage, where you can find alternative firmwares free of charge.
