The TLM 107 has been designed with the modern recording studio in mind, drawing from the company's rich heritage of microphone design, while not being made to sound 'classic' or 'vintage'. What the TLM 107 delivers is a microphone that's ready to capture whatever you put in front of it without colouration or enhancement, and so giving you the widest scope for sound sculpting come mix time or in post-production. The Neumann TLM 107 features five polar patterns; omni, cardioid, figure-8, wide-angle cardioid and hypercardioid allowing the user to bring the source properly into focus as well as overcome technical challenges such as mic bleed. Where the TLM 107 departs from normal microphones is that the frequency spectrum remains very linear in all pickup configurations, meaning no compromises in sound when adopting your mic placement techniques. Transformerless circuitry translates into a linearity and larger dynamic range that departs from the saturation characteristics that a transformer can bring. With an extremely low self-noise of around 10dB -A the TLM 107 is perfect for those whisper quiet vocal parts that may need an extra boost at the mic pre amp stage. Conversely, the TLM 107 has a sound pressure level of 141dB SPL that can be increased to 153dB SPL via the pad switch meaning it can handle loud and transient orchestral percussion through to rock drums and more, with the same clear and pristine audio quality. The Neumann TLM 107 features controls for operating level, pickup pattern selection and low cut filters which are perfect for removing unwanted low frequencies, and have been precisely tuned for cutting interference noise below the fundamental of bass instruments at 40Hz while the 100Hz is optimised for vocals, speech and voice over. All functions are via a high quality navigation switch.
