The Design Series combines excellent workmanship and outstanding sound performance. The eight-ply shells are made with HVLT construction, 1/32" thick plies of North American maple are joined in specific orientations to create a powerful combination that delivers a full spectrum of sound, attack, punch and tonal versatility. The modern DW Turret Lugs are a scaled down version of the famous round DW Lugs, they offer great handling and optimal tuning stability. DW's patented STM™ (Suspension Tom Mount) system allows toms to vibrate freely for maximum resonance while holding the drum securely in place. To give drummers better control over their sound, DW has developed the patented True-Pitch® Rod System. The tuning rods have a 5mm thread instead of the 12/24 thread that is standard with most other manufacturers. DW heads made by REMO give the DW Design Series optimal sound with balanced character.
