While the hardware and all features of each drum series are subject to eternal scrutiny, the shell construction and materials often remain untouched. To bring a breath of fresh air to the noblest of Tama drums, the Star Series consequently offers a completely new set made of walnut. Walnut has a very concise, attack-rich basic character with little sustain. The relatively hard wood, which is also used in furniture making, is used in 6 layers. This results in a relatively thin shell thickness of 5 mm, which elicits the best possible sound behavior from the beautiful, coarse-pored wood.
