Description
Pessac-Léognan is a controlled designation of origin located within the Bordeaux region. Indeed, one could say that it is one of the most prestigious and oldest areas in the region, one of the few where red and white wines, both worthy of note, can be found. Pessac-Léognan is located in the northern part of the Graves region, on the left bank of the Gironde. The soils here are characterised by a combination of gravel, clay and sand, which gives the wines a distinctive character. The dry white wines produced here often result from a blend of different grape varieties, as in this case. Chteau Pape Clément, in fact, is made from a very large majority of Sauvignon Blanc, with 20% Sémillon and peaks of Sauvignon Gris and Muscadelle. After the harvest, the grapes are brought to the cellar and transferred to a pneumatic press entirely by hand. The entire process is carried out under an inert atmosphere to preserve the rich aromas of the starting fruit as much as possible. Then, taking advantage of gravity, the must passes to the barriques, where fermentation takes place. At the end of the transformation, the wine remains in wooden barrels for the next stage of maturation. A wine characterised by a marked freshness and lively acidity, it is certainly not lacking in aromatic complexity either.
